There’s a lot of pressure in fitness to find the thing.

The perfect workout. The perfect schedule. The routine you’ll finally stick with forever.

But here’s the problem:

You don’t stay the same forever. So why should your workout routine?

Your schedule changes. Your goals change. Your energy changes. Your body changes. And sometimes, what you genuinely enjoy doing changes too.

Instead of seeing that as a lack of consistency, what if we looked at it as part of building a fitness routine that can actually last?

Different seasons call for different things

There may be seasons when you’re ready to lift heavier, challenge yourself and build strength.

Other times, you’re craving cardio, loud music and a workout that feels more like fun than exercise.

And then there are seasons when your body is practically begging you to slow down, stretch, work on mobility and move a little more intentionally.

All of those things count.

Fitness doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing, and consistency doesn’t mean doing the exact same workout every Tuesday at 9 a.m. for the rest of your life.

Sometimes consistency simply means continuing to move- even when the way you move changes.

Strength. Cardio. Flexibility.

At Flow, those three things are at the heart of what we do.

Some classes lean heavily into strength. Others get your heart pumping. Others give your body an opportunity to slow down, lengthen and move differently.

And plenty give you a little bit of everything.

There’s value in all of it.

Your body benefits from being challenged in different ways—and having choices means your workout can meet you where you are that day.

Feeling strong? Grab the weights.

Need to get out of your head? Turn up the music.

Feeling tight and tired? Choose something that gives your body a little more TLC.

Tomorrow can look completely different.

Boredom matters, too

We talk a lot about finding a workout that’s effective.

But there’s another question worth asking:

Do you actually enjoy it?

Because the “perfect” workout doesn’t do much good if you dread it so much that you stop showing up.

Trying different classes, learning new movements and changing up your routine can keep fitness interesting. And sometimes the class you were convinced was not for you ends up becoming your favorite.

You don’t have to label yourself a lifter, a dancer, a Pilates girl or a cardio person.

You’re allowed to be all of the above.

Your routine should fit your life- not the other way around

There will be weeks when you can make it to Flow three or four times.

There will be weeks when getting there once feels like a victory.

There may be a class you love for a year and then suddenly find yourself wanting something different.

That doesn’t mean you failed at being consistent.

A sustainable fitness routine has room to evolve with your actual life.

So as we head into a new season, maybe the question isn’t:

“How do I finally stick to the perfect workout routine?”

Maybe it’s:

“What kind of movement do I need in this season?”

And then give yourself permission to find out.
