For moms, finding time to exercise isn’t always as simple as putting a workout on the calendar.

There’s usually another question that comes first:

“But what am I going to do with the kids?”

Between school schedules, meals, work, appointments, activities, laundry, and the seemingly endless list of people who need something from you, taking an hour for yourself can easily move to the bottom of the list.

But taking care of yourself isn’t time taken away from your family.

It’s part of taking care of them, too.

Self-Care Doesn’t Have to Look Like a Spa Day

When we hear “self-care,” we sometimes picture massages, bubble baths, or an afternoon completely to ourselves.

Those things are wonderful, but self-care can also look like:

Moving your body.

Getting stronger.

Laughing with friends.

Turning up the music.

Having an hour where nobody is asking you for a snack. 😉

Sometimes, a workout is exactly the reset you need.

Why Movement Matters for Moms

Exercise has benefits that extend far beyond physical fitness.

Regular movement can help support your energy, strength, sleep, mood, and ability to manage everyday stress.

And for moms, there’s something especially valuable about having time that’s intentionally yours.

For 45 minutes or an hour, you get to step out of all the roles you fill for everyone else and simply focus on you.

Then you get to return to the people you love having done something that filled your own cup, too.

Sometimes the Biggest Barrier Is Childcare

We can tell moms to “make themselves a priority,” but that’s not particularly helpful when there’s a toddler standing beside them.

That’s one reason childcare is such an important part of what we offer at Flow Fitness Boutique.

Your little ones can be nearby and cared for while you take class, giving you the opportunity to focus on your workout without having to arrange a babysitter every time you want to exercise.

Removing that one barrier can make the difference between wanting to create a fitness routine and actually being able to create one.

And Your Kids Are Watching

There’s another benefit we don’t talk about enough.

When your children see you exercise, they’re seeing you make health and movement a normal part of life.

They’re watching Mom get stronger.

They’re learning that taking care of your body matters.

And they’re learning that Mom’s needs matter, too.

That’s a pretty powerful example to set.

You Don’t Have to Choose

Motherhood will always require sacrifice.

But taking care of your family and taking care of yourself don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

At Flow, we’ve intentionally created a space where women can move, get stronger, connect with other women- and, during select classes, bring their children along for childcare while they do it.

Because moms spend an incredible amount of time caring for everyone else.

Moms need care, too 🤍
